Excursions

Keep Mobile run a regular programme of excursions with venues to suit most requirements according to the season. Excursions are planned by a committee made up of members and drivers who decide on suitable venues and investigate suggestions for new venues received by members. The committee try to pick a selection which includes some all-day and some half-day trips because many elderly members cannot cope with a long day trip. Most months the committee include a short outing for a pub lunch in a relatively local pub - this is usually very popular! All venues are assessed for suitability of access and provision of disabled toilet facilities.

Three times a year  a programme is sent out to all subscribing members ( Excursions may only be booked by Keep Mobile members who subscribe to the excursions and newsletter service). This programme details the venues selected for the following  months.  Members may bring a spouse, friend or relative along with them as a companion or carer or Keep Mobile has a number of volunteer carers who will provide support if required. The member requesting the tickets is responsible for paying for the number of seats required.

Ticket requests received by the 12th of the month prior to the excursion dates are allocated by the office staff at Keep Mobile and successful applicants are notified by receipt of a travel voucher and a payment request. If trips are oversubscribed, it may be possible to run the trip again on an additional date - in which case members allocated tickets on the alternative date are notified by post. If it is not possible to allocate tickets to everyone who has requested them, unsuccessful applicants are put on the waiting list and receive a waiting list notification. Places are then offered to waiting list passengers if and when cancellations are received.

Excursion fares vary according to distance and admission charges for the venue. Some venues such as summer seaside visits are priced for transport only, and some are priced to include meals or admission prices. The programme will always state what the cost includes and whether food is included.
